The grant funds issued under the H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant
Competition will provide education, training and job placement
assistance related to high-growth fields such as advanced manufacturing,
energy, health care and information technology. The grants are funded
through fees paid by employers to bring foreign workers into the U.S.
under the H-1B program, and are intended to raise the technical skill
level of American workers.Memphis Bioworks was one of 36 public-private organizations around the country to receive a share of $159.2 million.
